Pat was a loving mother who enjoyed listening to her children’s music, painting, arts and crafts, fishing, and dolls. Gary was accomplished as a hobby carpenter in his younger years, enjoyed fishing with his wife, good food and sleeping in his chair. His children remember him as a hardworking, committed father who encouraged humor and taught, by his example, that family is bound by love and not by blood. The couple welcomed three of their grandchildren into their home to raise, Christopher, Damieon and Kaleb. ![]() Gary served in the Marine Corps for 3 years, worked for the Joplin Police Department as a juvenile officer and detective, and recently retired from his own lawn service. He married Debra, in 1984, after moving back to Joplin from Melbourne, Fla. He graduated from Galena High School in 1958. He is preceded in death by his father, Ralf Irving Giddens mother, Edith Mae Giddens brother, Clifford "Bud" Giddens and sister, Barbra Smith. Gary is survived by his wife, Debra Giddens children, Kevin Giddens and wife, Shawna, Tad Giddens, Chris Anderson, Tina Low and husband, Bryan, and Shawn Giddens and wife, Jessica 11 grandchildren, Alexis, Kenedee, Rylie, Dominique, Christopher, Damieon, Kaleb, Skylar, Darien, Blayne and Brantley and nephew, Steve Busick and wife, Glenda and niece, Sandy Nuckles. 1, 2015, in Joplin, Mo., at the age of 74, after a short battle of cancer.
